Planning the Perfect Mom Getaway

There are many things to consider when you are planning your mom getaways.  First, you will want to decide how long you plan to take.  Are you looking for a full day away or a long weekend? However it may be, this is the first step.

Once you decide on how long you will be taking, it’s time to line up childcare.  Can you go during a time when your husband will be available full time?  Is there anyone else who can help watch the kids?  A grandparent, aunt or uncle, babysitter or friend?

Once you have the details figured out- you can finally choose your getaway!  Think about what type of getaway you want to enjoy on your momcation.  Do you want to let loose and party?  Do you want to relax?  Do you want to stay busy?  Whatever it is, we have put together a list of incredible options to choose from!

Mom Getaway at the spa

1. Relax and Recharge at the Spa

For moms who need to recharge their batteries, a spa retreat is the perfect getaway. At a spa, you can enjoy some much-needed pampering and relaxation.  Sign up for a full body massage followed by a rejuvenating facial, both will be sure to allow you to disconnect and relax.

The great thing about a trip to the spa is that there are so many ways to enjoy this and on different budgets.  To save money you can find a local day spa and book several appointments over a couple of days.  If you want to splurge and truly get away from it all try to book a weekend at a Spa resort.  This is a great way to get that full in mom time.

2. Take a Yoga & Wellness Retreat

As a mom, there are so many things constantly on your mind.  We like to call it the invisible, yet never ending to do list.  This to-do list can be mentally exhausting and draining.  A wellness retreat will help you to take pause on that to-do list and quiet the constant noise around you.

With its focus on mindfulness and relaxation, yoga is the perfect way to unwind and de-stress. And if you’re looking to add a little bit of luxury to your trip, you can always stay in a yoga resort and enjoy the amenities. So if you’re looking for a mom getaway that’s both relaxing and rejuvenating, be sure to add yoga to your list!

3. Visit an All-Inclusive Resort in the Caribbean

Sun, Sand, and Relaxation.  Nothing sounds more like a getaway to me than escaping to the beach.  What makes this option so great is, there is truly something for everyone with the number of options available.

What we love about the Caribbean is that options are plentiful.  If you don’t have a passport, there are 4 islands that are part of the U.S.  These islands include St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix, and Puerto Rico.

mom getaway staycation

11. Enjoy a Staycation

Go local!  Let’s be honest, sometimes as a mom all you REALLY need is some time away and some quiet.  You don’t need to go far to accomplish this either!  Find a nearby hotel you can spend a night or two at.  Take a swim, get some uninterrupted exercise, read a book or veg out and watch movies the entire time.

No matter what your pleasure is, you can find time to relax during a staycation.

mom getaway vegas

12. Party in Vegas

If you’re looking for a mom getaway that’s both fun and relaxing, a trip to Las Vegas is the perfect choice. Whether you’re hitting the casinos or taking in the shows, there’s something for everyone in Sin City. And if you’re looking to add a little bit of luxury to your trip, you can always stay in a hotel on the strip. So if you’re looking for a mom getaway that’s both active and relaxing, be sure to add Las Vegas to your list!

13. Explore a New City

Remember the days before kids when you could go off and explore anything you wanted?  Of course you can still explore with kids and we love to do that, but there is nothing like discovering a new place on your own to see where the day takes you.  Use it as an excuse to scope out a new city that you’d like to return to with the family once you’ve done your “research.”

Head to New York City – The city that never sleeps and spend your days shopping, seeing sights, heading to the spa or checking out a Broadway show!

mom getaway amusement park

14. Visit an Amusement Park

Are you an amusement park lover?  There is no reason you can’t go to one solo if you are!  I’ll be honest, one of the things I was most excited about is taking my kids to amusement parks, simply so I had an “excuse” to go myself!  However, don’t let that deter you!  Head to an amusement park and ride every roller coaster you want.

Final Thoughts: Mom Getaways

It is so important for moms to recharge.  Taking a mom getaway will not only benefit you, but will benefit the entire family.  The great thing is that the experience can be what you make of it.  Make a short day trip or a long weekend or more!
